Chicory Bloom

While hiking in Spur Cross Ranch wildlife preserve I shot a photograph that inspired my latest painting called Chicory Bloom. The wild Chicory gr owes in the Sonoran Desert. The bloom is very delicate and small. I love the form and composition of it's pedals. The bright glow in the center is spectacular. The painting measures 40"x40" oil on canvas. I am in the process of having it photographed. The original as well as high quality gicless on stretched canvas will be available soon.

I just completed this painting called "Mornings Fresh Breath". It is oil on canvas 48w"x 60"h. Original. I am experimenting with a new technique that looks a bit like oil pastel. On this piece I wanted to "amp-up" the sense of translucency of the petals blooms. I used a series of translucent washes of oil to provide a light glow. I am very happy with the result. This is a divergence from my more detailed photoesque style. I would appreciate your comments and opinions. I had fun painting this subject. The original is available for sale as well as giclees in various proportionate sizes to suite. Please contact me if you are interested in ordering.
